YOUNGSTERS from across the Loddon have been recognised for their community service, inspiration and teamwork at the second BLG Youth Awards.
The annual awards were presented in Boort on Friday night to dozens of youngsters from the Loddon, Buloke and Gannawarra Shires.
Loddon Mayor Gavan Holt presented community service awards to Alina Gould, Campbell Harcourt, Jasmine Twigg, Keira Lawry, Samantha Bewley, Sam Hicks and Sam Barraclough. Mia Braun and Gemma Maxted were also named recipients of the awards.
Kaitlen Broad, James Hercott and Tyler Cramer received their inspiration award certificates. Ellesha Ferguson will also receive the award.
Bears Lagoon Serpentine Football Club canteen helpers Ebony Twigg, Abby Twigg, Olivia Twigg, Piper Long and Keira Tuohey were named among this year’s recipients of the teamwork award while Keira received a second recognition for teamwork along with Emily Sinclair, Will Hunt and Riley Wagner for their school for leadership work at East Loddon P12 College.
Boort’s Molly Meadows was one of three individuals to also receive a teamwork award.
Matt DeGruchy was guest speaker at the awards ceremony, talking about his experiences growing up with the rare genetic Stargardt’s Disease that gradually reduces vision. Matt said he did not “let the hurdles of low vision keep me down”.
The BLG awards were organised by Northern District Community Health and North Central LLEN.
