Woodies weaving safety nets in relegation zone
INGLEWOOD’S weekend Division 1 team gained another vital win in their quest to stay out of the relegation zone when they secured a nail biting three-shot victory against Eaglehawk.

Division 5 were overpowered by a very strong Campbells Creek side
The Midweek Pennant Division 4 team had a surprise win against Calivil that puts them back into a
good position to avoid the relegation position.
Winning by 40 shots, this gives them a lot of encouragement with four games left until the end of the season.
Best rink on the day was Edna Patterson, Kath McNaught, Chris McEwan and Daniel Garrett (skip) with a 15 shot victory.
Division 1 were unfortunate to lose to Marong by two shots due to one rink being overwhelmed by a strong Marong Rink.
Best rink on the day was Rhonda Gallagher, Denis Wilson, Bruce McClymont and Ian Chamberlain
(skip) with a nine-shot win.
In weekend pennant, Inglewood Division 5 found Campbells Creek too strong and ended losing by 39 shots. Still sitting sixth on the ladder and have to travel to the fifth placed Castlemaine side this weekend in the Charity Round.
Best rink on the day was Bill Concol, Dionne Roberts, Brendan Hopcott and Chris McEwan (Skip)
with a 17 all draw.
Division One’s good form came back when they defeated the third placed Eaglehawk in a nail-
biting 3 shot victory. The challenge this week is to perform well, for the Charity Round, against the fifth placed Bendigo team.
Best rink on the day was Merilyn Chamberlain, Robert Stranger, Bruce McClymont and Geoff Wilson (Skip) with a 13-shot win.
SERPENTINE
SERPENTINE’S Division 2 bowlers have taken out the annual Heathcote Serpentine Challenge, in the process inflicting Heathcote’s first loss for the season.
Serp won 76-72 on Saturday, having lost by two shots back in round two.
The Challenge sees the scores from both matches combined, meaning Serp has taken the trophy for the 2025-26 season.
The win over the top side has also dragged Serpentine from the bottom rung of the ladder, with the team now holding a 3-6 record and sitting ahead of Bendigo East, which has won twice.
Three of the bottom four teams are on the same number of wins as the battle to avoid relegation hots up with five rounds to play.
Playing on Heathcote’s tricky carpet, three of Serp’s four rinks were successful.
The rink of Dale Bish, Gordon Addlem, Brian Gladman and Dianne Walker (skip) won their match 22-13, which proved the key result on the day.
Two other rinks, led by Ben Long and Rick Hasty, won 20-18 each, so overall the team was able to tip the balance in its favour despite a 23-14 loss by Neville Tonkin’s rink.
BRIDGEWATER
BRIDGEWATER’S Division 5 side travelled to South Bendigo under overcast skies and the threat of rain, but adapted superbly to the slick greens to set up a strong position early.
The visitors jumped to a commanding 22-shot lead at the bell, before South Bendigo mounted a late surge. Bridgewater held firm, eventually securing an eight-shot win overall.
The standout rink of the day was the quartet of Glenn Mangan, Ron Brown, Peter Steinhaus and Lachlan Catto, who dominated from the outset to record an impressive 23–8 victory.
Alan Harrison’s rink continued their solid form with a tight 2-shot win, while Curtis Mangan’s rink showed great composure to salvage a draw on the final end.
In the Goldfields division, Bridgewater hosted Dunolly Gold and endured a tough outing against a top-four opponent, going down by more than 40 shots overall. It’s a case of regrouping and resetting ahead of this week’s round.
