THE Loddon’s five swimming pools have had a busy opening weekend.
Belgravia Leisure’s regional manager Tim Free said families had taken advantage of the warm weather.
And keeping a watchful eye of swimmers were local lifeguards returning for another summer season.
At Wedderburn, Aliza Lockhart was on deck for her third season as a lifeguard.
She has just finished the first year of primary teacher study at La Trobe University.
“I enjoy the outdoors and love the atmosphere of fun that youngsters create at the pool,” said Aliza.
Fellow lifeguard Neve Nisbet has signed on for a second year after completing Year 12. Neve has also gained summer employment at district grain silos.
Inglewood’s opening weekend lifeguards are now also veterans of the swimming pool in summer.
Hailey Patterson said: “I just love the energy and the atmosphere”.
Hailey is a first-year nursing student and also volunteers with Inglewood Fire Brigade.
Shelby Coon said she had signed on as a lifeguard for a third year so the community could continue to use and enjoy the pool.
Tim said he was optimistic there would be no staffing interruptions at Loddon pools this season.
