Wedderburn hosts region’s top bowlers this weekend
BOWLERS from all over the Wimmera will converge on Wedderburn on the long weekend for the regional state finals.

Over four days, the best players in the area will compete in 11 events, with 68 bowlers taking part on Saturday alone.
Teams from North Central, Bowls Wimmera, Grampians and North Wimmera playing areas will contest the titles.
The region’s Champion of Champions for both men’s and ladies will be decided on Sunday and Monday.
Friday will see the Ladies Triples event, while Saturday’s packed schedule will see the Men’s and Ladies’ fours, the Ladies’ novice event and the men’s triples.
The heats and final of the prestigious Ladies’ Champion of Champions will be played on Sunday along with the Men’s and Ladies’ pairs and the Men’s novice events.
It’s the turn of the men on Monday to play out their Champion of Champions contest, while the Ladies’ singles will also be run and won on the public holiday.
Play will begin at 9.30am each day.
It is the second of three major events to be played at Wedderburn’s rinks over a busy month.
Last Saturday saw the grand finals of the North Central Division 1 and 2 played there, and the club’s popular Easter Tournament will be held early in April, which attracts as many as 200 bowlers over three days.
