Water top ups leave hefty bill

TAPS have been tightened at Inglewood Recreation Reserve after travellers have filled up with “free water” and left the committee with hefty bills.

The reserve committee has had one bill of more than $5600 with recreational vehicle owners and even farmers said to have filled up at the reserve and adjoining J. Sloane Park.

Committee secretary Bill Concol said this week confirmed several big water bills.

Committee members believe confusion around water access may have been caused by an AI-generated online summary saying free supplies could be accessed at the park before detailing allowed water use.

The committee has changed tap fittings since being whacked with the bills to reduce access and use.

“The bills equated to running sprinklers on the oval 24 hours a day,” another source told the Loddon Herald.

Inglewood and District Historical Society this week also raised the alarm that “someone has decided they will help themselves to water from the tap at the court house”.
