A COALITION government would fund a study of available groundwater in the Campbells Forest district.
Liberal candidate for Ripon Louise Staley made the announcement with members of Campbells Forest and District Community Action and Planning Group on Tuesday.
Ms Staley said a Coalition government would give $10,000 for the study as part of the district’s 20-year campaign for a secure water supply.
“Despite significant effort, water supply remains elusive for their community. Over the past eight years, I have repeatedly raised it in Parliament and with successive water ministers, and yet nothing has happened,” she said.
“The action group has identified a number of viable options for supply to Campbells Forest and district, and the feasibility study will ensure the action group can find a way forward to achieve water security for their community.”
Group president Ann-Marie Davis said: “This study will either show there is groundwater or there isn’t.”
Members said Campbells Forest was the missing piece in the Loddon jigsaw for secure water supply.
