CREWS working the Wedderburn goldfields are expected to finish their first round of exploratory drilling within weeks.
Diamond drilling in the Lane’s Reef area east of town started in March and Wedderburn Goldfields managing director Dick Sandner said assay results were expected next month.
Mr Sandner said exploration was currently a joint venture with Ostract but his company had exercised its right for full ownership of the licence.
He said the exploration start had followed 18 months of structural mapping and research of two zones.
Drilling has been in the central zone, stretching more than 1.5km between Butterick Lane and Queen’s Gully Road.
