Volunteers have first turn out from new station

CFA volunteers with the Serpentine brigade have turned out to a fire for the first time from their new station.

A crew was called to a roadside fire at Prairie last Thursday, joining brigades from Dingee and Mitiamo in quickly extinguishing the grass fire believed to be started by an agricultural implement being transported between properties in the district.

The callout came just days after members had a barbecue and familiarisation evening.

Brigade leaders have earlier been handed the keys to the station that had first been promised five years ago and funded in the State Budget. The sod was turned last June.
