A UTILITY has been destroyed by fire between Inglewood and Bridgewater this morning, Saturday January 4.

The driver of the orange utlity had stopped beside the Calder Highway, near Chamberlains Road, about 11.15am.

Witnesses told the Loddon Herald thatthe man said he had started to drive off when the vehicle caught on fire and flames spread onto grass on the highway verge.

Several people tried to put out the fires in the minutes before fire brigade volunteers arrived and extinguished flames.

Traffic was halted while firefighters tackled the fire and there are believed to be no injuries.
