Trainer’s praise track on a difficult day
THE sandy track at Boort held up well as rain fell throughout Sunday’s cup meeting.

And club officials have been praised for their management on a difficult day.
Among trainers impressed with how the track was maintained across the nine-race program was Terry Gange.
He said the greatest challenges had not been on the track, but moving horses from their stalls to the track.
Club secretary Tom Nisbet said club and Harness Racing Victoria officials have inspected the track before and after each race to ensure racing could continue.
Nisbet backed up the comments of Gange, saying: “The tractor has had to help shift a few cars bogged near the horse stalls.”
The mobile barrier also did test drives around the track before each race. “The track held solid all day,” Nisbet said.
Sunday’s meeting was in contrast to January’s Wedderburn Cup meeting conducted as temperatures soared into the 40s.
Nisbet is secretary of both clubs.
