A NEW community car will give Pyramid Hill residents greater access to medical appointments in larger towns and cities.
The town’s neighbourhood house was celebrating State Government funding announced last Friday for the initiative which manager Kim Bennett says will give improve the lifestyle choices of residents.
And while the announcement by Deputy Premier and Bendigo East MP Jacinta Allan said the town would receive a bus service, Kim confirmed that the community car project had received all government approvals for the $75,000 grant under the flexible local solutions program.
Kim said the grant would see delivery of the town’s community car in coming days and Penny Caspani had been engaged to act as co-ordinator for the first 10 months, assisting with volunteer driver recruitment and training.
She said access to transport for medical appointments had been a key challenge for local residents.
