CRIME in Inglewood has dipped more than 30 per cent with reported offences across Loddon communities down more than the state average.

Crime Statistics Agency data released last week shows 61 reported offences in the town for the 12 months to March, down from 96 for the previous year.

There was a small dip in offences at Pyramid Hill (36) while Wedderburn saw a jump from 71 to 89, Bridgewater up four to 40 and Boort jumping from 21 to 31.

Thefts were the major driver of crime in local communities, increasing from 79 to 102 offences for the year while criminal damage went from 31 to 51 offences.

However, the number of criminal incidents across the shire increased from 385 to 395.

Family violence offences were also down - the 15.8 per cent decrease coming after reports dropped from 146 to 123.

Victoria’s overall crime offence rate decreased 1.9 per cent.

CSA chief statistician Fiona Dowsley said: “For the first time since 2022, incidents alleged to be linked to youth offenders have decreased, with adults now responsible for 88 per cent of offender incidents.

“There has been a 10.8 per cent increase in adult offender incidents recorded over the last 12 months, driven by increases in breaches of bail conditions, stealing from retail stores and breaches of family violence orders.” Ms Dowsley said.
