LODDON’S Visitor Information Centre celebrated National Volunteer Week with a familiarisation tour to Bendigo.
The Loddon Valley is part of the Bendigo tourism region and the tour for centre volunteers and staff was an opportunity to learn more about attractions in the wider region.
Local volunteers were taken to the Elvis exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery, the Great Stupa and other attractions while on tour.
The show conducts several familiarisation tours and functions for volunteers each year. Council said those events increased team building, friendship and knowledge of the area.
Volunteers staff the visitor information centre in Wedderburn on Sundays and public holidays.
They also assist with information to visitors on pop-up stalls at major events in the shire.
Council’s tourism team said more residents interested in volunteering could contact the visitor information centre.
