CONTRASTING scorelines were the result of round three of Upper Loddon junior cricket on Saturday.
The second of the one dayers, saw a low scoring affair between Boort-Yando and Bridgewater while the other game between Wedderburn and Kingower, saw both teams registering their highest scores of the season.
Boort-Yando travelled to Bridgewater and were asked to bat by the home team.
Runs proved to be at a premium on the well grassed oval and only Harry Malone who hit 15, made it to double figures. He also hit the only three boundaries of the day.
Two run outs didn’t help Boort-Yando’s cause and they were dismissed for a total of 59. All of the Boort-Yando batsmen contributed at least one run and this proved helpful as the Bridgewater innings had three ducks in their final total of 35.
The bowling figures of both teams were obviously fairly frugal with just the 72 runs coming off the bat.
Wickets were shared around by both clubs with Ned Wickham of Bridgewater and Lachlan Hall, Jacob Malone, Owen Byrne and Darby Perryman for Boort-Yando the most successful, all claiming two wickets. Jensen Birthisel of Bridgewater took his first wicket in his junior career.
Up at Wedderburn, the runs flowed freely as Kingower won the toss and batted. Six batsmen made it to the crease, with Morgan Lonza the only one not to make runs.
Tyler Murphy, Evan McCoy and Riley Murphy all retired to the shed with thirties beside their names, while Jackson Luckman and Ryder Smith gave good support, scoring 20 and 13 not out respectively.
When time was called , Kingower had reached a total of two for 151 with Aaron Thomas and Atti Clarke the wicket takers for Wedderburn.
In reply Wedderburn were bowled out for a total of 69 being their best effort of the season. Edwin Sellick and Kayla Cramp both struck some lusty blows to reach double figures and they were later joined by Trai Clarke. Atti Clarke also did well to defend his wicket while watching six teammates depart.
Morgan Lonza made up for his failure with the bat by taking three wickets and three catches, while Riley Leach took his second three wicket haul for the season.
