RESIDENTS opposing a proposed wind farm at Mincha will protest on Wednesday outside an information session they have described as “a shoddy tick-a-box exercise”.

Tara Hammett, of Loddon Valley Renewables Awareness Group, said the community remained upset and disappointed with engagement by European Energy.

“Some neighbours received an email late on a Friday afternoon telling them about release of the site plan and turbine locations ... leaving people to fume all weekend,” she said.

“And the email, not received by everyone, had the addresses of all recipients displayed.”

“It’s a shoddy practice and they are only doing the latest session to tick a box.”

Tara claimed the company had not listened to community concerns raised last year and the request that future sessions be town hall-style meetings.

“They are continuing with more of these one on one sessions where’s it’s about divide and rule and whatever we say in the negative means nothing. They are determined to press ahead,” she said.

“Neighbours and the community don’t seem to matter because we are getting in the way of them making a dollar.”

European Energy will hold information sessions in Pyramid Hill on Wednesday.

Tara says LVAAG is organising a peaceful protest outside the community centre “to give people a voice”.
