FOUR rounds to go in Loddon Valley football, with six sides still in the mix for finals.

Macorna edged out Newbridge for a nail-biting win at Riverside Oval to probably snuff out the Maroons’ finals charge for 2026.

Maiden Gully had a percentage-boosting win against the Bears at home at to keep their finals dream alive.

The Eagles will have to take the scalp of a top four side in the next three weeks to sneak into the finals.

It’s difficult to see them rolling the Mean Machine at Camel Hump Arena unless Bridgewater has a bad day ... a really bad day and in real contrast to their demolition of Marong last Saturday.

Bridgey to get the chocolates for me.

Pyramid travels south to the windy graveyard to do battle with Mitiamo. Too much to lose here for the Dogs with finals around the corner. The Bulldogs by a fair margin and keep pressure the top sides.

Calivil hosts Inglewood at Rodeo Park, with the Blues starting to string together some good wins on the run to the finals. They should be too good in this one.

Marong is at home to Macorna at Malone Park for the first time. The Tigers slugged it out with Newbridge last week to get the points, but it is a totally different challenge to knock off the Panthers at home after they lowered their colours to Bridgewater last week. Panthers at home by 24 points.

The last game of the round is probably the pick of the bunch, Bears Lagoon Serpentine versus Newbridge at the Bear Cave.

Newbridge won back in round six by 45 points, but the Bears are always a better side at home. Hard game to pick – maybe the Bears by less than a kick in a real tight one. Just what we need – another thriller to end the round.
