ANOTHER interesting round is upon us, with a couple of games that could go either way.

Last week Marong and Bridgewater stamped their authority over their closest rivals with solid wins to set themselves up for a grand final tilt.

This week Inglewood versus Bridgewater is the game of the round and once again it should be a ripper. Inglewood needs to claim a scalp to be considered a genuine finals’ contender and needs to get off to a flier if the Blues are any chance of a win against the Mean Machine.

Bridgewater on form should win, but I’m happy to eat humble pie from the Bridgey Bakehouse if the Woodies drag themselves over the line.

The Bears host the Macorna Tigers at the Bear cave. This game may not go according to script as the Bears are starting to wake from their hibernation and could cause an upset if the predicted heavy rain this week makes for a heavy track.

The ruck duel between Colak and Twigg will be a beauty, and a heavy ground will take away the Tigers’ young, slick midfield advantage. I am tipping an upset in favour of Serp by 10 points.

Maiden Gully hosts Pyramid Bulldogs at the dome and this game really depends on which sides turn up for the day – the A, B or C sides. The Eagles with Shaun McKernan in the team are a genuine chance. Still, it’s hard to see the Dogs losing two in a row, and playing Marong next week must win to stay in touch with the top three.

The Panthers at home to the Calivil Demons should get the four points at Malone Park in a canter.

Finally, Newbridge hosts Mitiamo at the tranquil Riverside Oval and should prevail against the Superoos. That should put a smile on the faces of the gatekeepers Tony and Mick on a cold winter’s day.
