Maiden Gully kept the finals door ajar after sneaking home against Macorna in a low-scoring affair and will be keen to keep Newbridge at bay at Camel Hump arena this week and get another four points.
Mitiamo hosts Macorna at John Forbes arena and is not without a chance of causing an upset as their northern neighbours have never played on the tricky, windy flats ground. Macorna must win to keep its finals aspirations alive in 2026.
Calivil is at home to Bears Lagoon Serpentine at Rodeo Park, and the Demons will have their tails up after a good win against Mitiamo last week. The Bears really pushed Marong to eventually go down by 10 points. Once again, this will be a close game. With Twigg and Priest in their side, the Bears just look a little better on paper than the young Calivil side.
The game of the round is probably at Bridgewater’s home ground, where the Mean Machine host the Pyramid Bulldogs. Bridgewater got the job done at the Kennel earlier in the season. The Bulldogs have been more settled as the year has gone on, with their younger players starting to develop.
Bridgewater has the capacity to beat any side on its day and always play well at home on its smaller oval. The Mean Machine by a whisker.
The last game is Marong versus Inglewood at Malone Park. The Panthers gave the Blues a fair touch up in the first-round encounter and the Inglewood brains trust won’t want that to happen again.
Cotchett versus Gadsden in the middle will be a ripper contest as both are ball magnets. A really hard game to pick, but the Panthers at home are always hard to beat.
