WE ARE nearly at the halfway stage of the season, and the ladder is starting to take shape.

Last week’s games generally went to script, with the exception of Mitiamo, which snagged its first win of the season with accurate kicking at John Forbes arena.

Macorna nearly caused a major upset at Pyramid Hill to only fall short of the Bulldogs by a solitary point, and Inglewood continued on its merry way against a Newbridge side that is in need of a couple of tall forwards after early-season injuries.

This week, all our attention turns to the Inglewood Football Netball Club, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this season, and is hosting its oldest rival, Bears Lagoon Serpentine, in a standalone match while the other teams have a well-earned break. The clash will decide the annual Bonnie Ward Cup, as well as mark the Blues’ momentous milestone.

It’s hard to see the Bears getting up against Inglewood this week, which will have huge and vocal support from past players and supporters in the crowd cheering for the home side.

A win to the Woodies will be a very important victory in the context of the season.
