Team mates do hard yards in name of community spirit
AFTER a night spent in tents on Inglewood oval as part of their pre-season camp, Woodies footballers split up on Saturday to do community work around town.

Four players – Will Allen, Tom Guerra, Kye Wicks and Cade Cohalan – spent their morning uprooting swathes of weeds at Inglewood Botanical Gardens.
Their efforts, according to Will Sanson from the Loddon Plains Landcare Network, were worth “three or four working bees”.
The players’ main task was removing broad stands of invasive Spanish heath from around the gardens, which involved a great deal of digging and wrenching out of roots with shovels.
They were on the job with local Landcare volunteers Lee Saville and Christine Elliott.
Saville quickly showed how tough the weed was to dislodge, snapping his shovel handle with his first dig into the ground.
Allen said the players were happy to contribute to the Inglewood community, which gave back so much during the football season.
Friday had seen them train together for the first time, with the Melbourne-based players, including Allen, coming up for the camp.
They had dinner and worked on game plans for the season before “getting on the beers”.
Still, they turned up fresh as a daisy on Saturday morning.
“It’s good to see them getting involved in the community and not just coming in to play or train and then leaving,” Mr Sanson told the Loddon Herald.
Other players spent the morning lending a hand contributing to the community at the recreation reserve, Inglewood Primary School. and Eucalyptus Distillery Museum as part of their team and community bonding weekend.
