THE ABANDONMENT of the Mitiamo versus Inglewood clash on Saturday after an injury to Superoos youngster Joey Mizzi left players, coaches and spectators stunned.
“Obviously your first thought is for the young bloke involved,” Woodies coach Jackson Hood said.
As for the match itself, Hood said his team initially “didn’t play the kind of footy we wanted to”.
“But then we got it back more on our terms.”
He said it was debatable whether Inglewood would have built up more percentage if the game had gone the full four quarters and his side had got on a roll.
With a match against struggling Calivil to come, percentage is not on the coach’s mind.
“It we are playing the brand of footy we want, that will take care of itself.”
Midfielder Mizzi was starring before his injury and was named as Mitiamo’s best player along with Bryce Laird and forward Ben Arho.
Brent Cotchett continued his brilliant form for Inglewood, as did fellow midfielder Liam Marciano as the Woodies improved to 2-3 on the year.
Debutant Daniel Godden provided a tall target for a side that has been lacking height in attack.
