Support, service recognised
PETER Walsh attended his last annual general meeting of Boort District Health as the local member of Parliament.

A strong backer of the hospital and its aged care hostel across 23 years as the local MP, Mr Walsh was recognised for his support of BDH and the community ahead of retirement from Parliament next year.
Mr Walsh’s connection to the hospital stretches back more than 70 years. He was born at the old Boort Hospital.
Retiring board chair Wendy Gladman said Mr Walsh had been a good counsel during her nine years on the board.
Mr Walsh said helping secure funding for the present BDH facilities had been an important achievement during his time in Parliament.
In her report, Mrs Gladman said BDH had faced many challenges during her time on the board but the service and access to care had been strengthened.
Mrs Gladman board appointment ends next June.
During the meeting, staff service awards were presented to Sam Isaac (10 years), Nicole Fuller (25 years), Stacey Streader (25 years), Michelle Holland (30 years). Ladies’ auxiliary service awards: Aileen Morris and Kate Gawne (15 years).
