SOUTH Korean singers Kim Hyun-joong and Rui will be starring at Pyramid Hill Memorial Hall when the town’s Major’s Vision art show opened on Friday night.

Claire Rooney, a Year 10 student at the town’s school, has captured two K-pop idols in her digital artworks which will hang alonside another 360 entries.

“It’s fun to draw and they are my idols ... I enjoy their music, it’s the best,” said Claire who is among the new students at Pyramid Hill College this year.

“Kim and Rui produce content for their fans, there’s fun (online) meetings and next month I’m going to Melbourne for a K-pop concert at Rod Laver Arena.”

Claire and fellow Year 10 student Charlotte Pickles last Friday put finishing touches to their art show entries.

Charlotte has entered a pencil drawing of the NILS statue, inspired by the messages in the Nintendo game Splatoon- a massive, 12,000-year-old statue of a human man’s head resembling ancient Greek sculpture.

This year’s art show is offering $9000 in prizemoney and will open with the announcement of winners tomorrow night.

Organiser Terry Wood said involvement of local artists was one of the show’s important achivements each year.
