LIFE was literally apples for Inglewood toddler Otis Turnbull as the fire truck approach his home on Good Friday morning.
Clutching an apple in one hand and pocket money in the other, Otis, 2 was ready to make his donation to the Good Friday appeal.
With a huge smile, Otis rushed to the fence at the first sound of the fire engine siren.
Otis will make his next trip to the Royal Children’s Hospital next month. Mum Jayde said it would be the latest in a series of regular visit to Melbourne.
She said Otis was born with a cleft palate and first had an operation at RCH when only 10 months old. He has also over the last two years to have grommets placed in his ears.
Jayde said they would be replaced on his next visit.
“The Royal Children’s Hospital is so wonderful, a welcoming hospital and so supportive of those of us who travel from country Victoria,” she said.
“The great care you hear about is really there from the amazing doctors, nurses and staff.
“There are play areas that Otis loves ... everything you need is there.:
Jayde said Otis had a huge love of life and was looking forward to beginning child care at Wedderburn next term.
She said the appeal was one small way to support the care and treatment Otis had received since birth.
Appeal chair Penny Fowler said: “Giving for the kids is at the heart of the Good Friday Appeal, and the incredible generosity of regional Victoria continues to shine. From small towns to larger regional centres, communities have united to make a meaningful difference.”
