Chasing Boort-Yando’s imposing 4-168 in their two-day clash, Kingower managed to hold the Magpie bowlers at bay for 46.2 overs but could only reach 39 runs from those overs, with some remarkable feats of defensive batting along the way.

Jamie Penrose managed one run from 31 balls faced; Xander Wilson and Matilda Rose both hit two from 41 deliveries; Morgan Lonza made two from 35 balls, and Tahj Lamprell was unbeaten on nought after facing 30 balls. Opener Ryder Smith’s 11 off 59 deliveries was Kingower’s top score.

The Magpie bowling was predictably tight. Jake O’Flaherty took 2-4 from six overs, while Cooper Gooding 2-0 from 2.2 overs.

WEDDERBURN Band made a decent fist of reeling in Bridgewater’s 8-113, alling short by just 22 runs in the team’s best performance of the season.

The Band batted through 46 overs for their 6-91, with Zane Polkinghorne’s patient 29 from 111 deliveries the highest score. Nate Turnbull, boosting his reputation for being nearly impossible to dismiss, was not out on three from 44 balls.

Jenson Birthisel starred with the ball for the Bulls, taking 3-8 from his seven overs as all 11 players took a turn with the Kookaburra. Jed Cossar, Ned Wickham and Angus Ferguson also took wickets as the Bulls climbed to second place on the ladder behind runway leaders Boort Yando.

The Band is at home to the Magpies in another two-day match on Saturday.
