FOR the first round of the new season Bridgewater’s division 5 side travelled to Castlemaine to play on carpet.
All four rinks were in the mix at the halfway mark with Bridgewater leading by two shots at the bell.
The final 11 ends were a seesaw battle with Castlemaine edging away on the final ends. Curtis Mangan and Ron Brown’s rinks both salvaged draws at the end of play.
The Goldfields division 2 side hosted Avoca at home with a new 2 rink format and posted a win. The best rink of the day was Ray Simons, Don Wilson, Jayden Leach and Glenn Mangan (skip) winning 29 shots to 10.

Despite the good weather conditions Inglewood Bowling Club had on their home green, both weekend pennant teams suffered defeats.
The division 5 side lost to Kangaroo Flat, with the best rink on the day going to Ben Scoble, Doug Shay, Kevin Stewart and Daniel Garrett (skip) who lost by only one shot.
Division 1 were close to the win with three shots up and only three ends to be completed but fell short by two shots, however two rinks still won and were able to gain some points for the team.
Best rink on the day were Blake Smyth, David Whitehead, Vicky Tierney and Craig Kelly (skip) with seven-shot win.
The club had two new members, Betty Gath and Brian Oughtred, debut over the weekend. Monday’s division 4 team took home the win against Dingee in their first game after being promoted from division 5.
Best rink on the day were Edna Patterson, Kath McNaught, Rhonda Gallagher and Pam Lewis (skip) with a strong 17 shot win.
