Special gear, words of history part of sesquicentenary plans

The match-worn uniforms will be auctioned at the gala dinner which will follow the Woodies’ standalone clash with Bears Lagoon Serpentine, the club’s oldest rival in the Loddon Valley league.
The match on the King’s Birthday weekend will be the only game played that Saturday, with round nine to be completed a week later.
Inglewood will play an Under 18 match against East Loddon Rams and an Under 14 game against Macorna before reserves and seniors take the field against the Bears.
A book on the history of the club written by David Rose will be launched on the day, which will also feature a memorabilia display in the pavilion and merchandise sales.
Inglewood was formed at a meeting at the Empire State Hotel on June 1, 1876, and the club was one of 12 foundation members of the Victorian Football Association the following year, along with Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne and St Kilda, as well as other regional clubs. The Woodies hosted matches against Melbourne at the present-day golf course in 1877 and Carlton in 1879 at the former agricultural showgrounds at the north end of town.
The club moved from competition to competition in the early days, winning the first premiership in the Loddon Valley Football Association in 1903, and then taking home eight flags in the Korong District Central Association.
The first winner of the Brownlow Medal, ‘Carji’ Greeves, was captain-coach in 1935.
Inglewood returned to the Loddon Valley in 1939, and has won eight premierships, the last in 1986.
Netball has returned eight flags in A Grade as well, first in the Loddon Valley Basketball Association and then in the LVFNL.
The league’s A Grade best and fairest award is named after Woodies star Helen Ward, who won six best player awards.
