TERTIARY learning opportunities were front and centre at East Loddon P12 College last week.
Year 10 students, who will next month begin selecting subjects to study in VCE, were told of the opportunities available through Bendigo TAFE.
Senior sub-school leader Sarah Krahe said Shay Murphy spoke on benefits and opportunities through TAFE and “the great programs and courses at the Bendigo campuses”.
Students later in the week heard from La Trobe University’s Rani Dorrington and Ellex Skinner.
Their presentation included information on early entry programs and the Aspire program for community volunteers or Year 11 high achievers.
Meanwhile, students in Years 5 to 10 participated in sessions last week presented by Mates on a Mission.
“The sessions revolved around strategies to build our toolkit for helping ourselves when we are feeling down, lonely, not ourselves,” Sarah said.
“Students enjoyed the interactive games and thought provoking questions. Some parts were even a little emotional, owning up to feelings of loneliness and isolation. Ben and Mike did a great job, and we enjoyed seeing them again after their visit last year as part of their touching ‘blind and legless’ story.”
