Sonia and friends make a pink splash

FAMILY and friends have continued their support of Sonia Galloway as she meets the challenges of breast cancer by attending a fundraising morning tea.
They came to Inglewood Town Hall wearing splashes of pink and enjoyed cakes topped with pink icing.
Sonia said local businesses Inglewood IGA, Cafe 3517 and Inglewood Bakehouse and Cafe had donated food for the morning tea.
While adults sipped on cups of tea and coffee, youngsters were treated to pink lemonade.
Sonia said more than $400 had been raised for breast cancer.
She is in the final weeks of chemotherapy in Bendigo. “It’s a long process from when you find the lump,” said Sonia who detected a lump on her breast in February.
Doctors and specialists told Sonia her breast cancer had been aggressive. “They found two lumps - one was a cyst - the other lump quickly measured 23mm but with treatment it has already been reduced to 9mm,” she said.
Sonia said she was grateful for the ongoing support of the community. And her advice: “Make sure you have regular checks ... just because there is no history of breast cancer in your family doesn’t mean it will bypass you.”
