FROM the bush to the beach, yarns have been popping into the OTF inbox probably as fast as the opinions offered when Bradley of Boort was consuming the festive feast. We think his Christmas week Treemendous Sign was an indication that his renowned pumpkin was ditched for a gourmet selection of calorie-boosting fare.

ON THE subject of tremendous, the stunning front page cartoon by Noel Kilner for our Christmas week edition sure had some feedback. The Good Doc said he loved it “but tell Noel I hold my umpie’s whistle in the left hand.” Sure one eagle-eyed Doc.

WE HEAR The Oracle was super impressed to be depicted with his source of all information, the Funk and Wagnells while fellow mayors across northern Victoria have compared the caricature of Loddon’s Dan Straub with one of those Looney Tunes’ characters.

MEANWHILE, some locals escaped to the beach with the kids in tow. “Good to be back ... was only here a few weeks ago and got paid for that trip. This time we’re paying and have taken the kids shopping,” a mum told OTF. She reckons got out of the shopping excursion cheap this year, but fears an escalation in spending as visiting surf shops looms as the youngsters grow up.

BACK home, loved how the younger Inglewood Fire Brigade members on standby last Friday filled in time - the great colouring competition.
