Social salon will be in Lee’s safe ownership
THE salon that popped up in Wedderburn’s main street when the town was left without a hairdresser will have a new owner next month.

Rejoov, the social enterprise established through Wedderburn Community House in 2019, will see Lee Collins at the helm of the business.
Lee grew up on the family farm at Fentons Creek, worked for several years as a mobile hairdresser in the district before moving to Bendigo and has now returned to the town.
Her purchase of Rejoov was unveiled on Saturday by members of the community house sub-committee overseeing the salon.
Lee said her family’s return to the Wedderburn district was “so my three boys can experience the same country upbringing I had”.
There’ll be one change at Rejoov with a new name.
“We’re calling the salon Kin and Co recognising family, friends and the community,” Lee said.
“The vibe of the salon will still be about community connection and a place where everyone is welcome. “
She said the family’s move to Wedderburn had been “a dream we had held onto for many years”.
“When the opportunity arose to move back, it felt like everything had fallen into place. Lachy has since started his own business, McLean Mechanical Services, servicing the local area. It’s been incredibly busy and rewarding, and a wonderful reflection of the hardworking, supportive community we’re so proud to be part of.”

For sub-committee members like Robyn Vella, selling the business to Lee is a special cause for celebration.
“When we started looking at a model that could be used to start the salon, Lee was one of the people I spoke with and she gave us very good advice and guidance,” Robyn said.
“The story of Rejoov is one of how from little things, big things grow - the salon now provides hairdressing, professional massage, podiatry, pedicures, manicures, facial needling, waxing, brow and lash tinting, facial hydration therapies and so much more.
“Under Lee’s management, all these wonderful services will continue and Lee, herself, will be offering hairdressing three days per week.”
Robyn said the social enterprise had brought benefits for the town. “Rejoov has become a place for new services for our town and helped with economic development, employment, traineeships, beautification of our main street.
“It has become a space where service providers could test the waters before instilling them with the belief that they could start their own business and even attracting young, skilled people back to the community; bringing with them the desire to take on new business opportunities in the town they love so much.”
