Small group will see care centre plaque unveiled
THE Loddon Shire’s first child care centre will be officially opened tomorrow.

THE Loddon Shire’s first child care centre will be officially opened tomorrow.
The early learning centre co-located at Wedderburn College was built by the State Government after a strong community campaign by the college and local mothers.
That campaign achieved promises from both Labor and the Coalition ahead of the 2022 state election.
Among those expected to be at tomorrow’s opening when Ripon MP Martha Haylett unveils a plaque are Loddon Mayor Dan Straub.
New national and state regulations on access to child care centres that have been introduced over the last year will limit the number of people attending the ceremony to be held during operating hours for the centre’s kindergarten and child care sessions.
Early Learning Victoria will run an open day at the centre on Saturday.
“Our open day will provide an opportunity to tour the centre and meet our skilled and experienced educators,” according to ELV.
“If you are looking to enrol your child, you can find out more about Early Learning Victoria’s high-quality childcare and integrated kinder programs.
“If you are looking to grow your career as a qualified, skilled or new early learning or support professionally by working in an organisation where children’s needs come first, you can speak to our friendly team to learn more.”
ELV said the Government-run Early Learning Victoria Wedderburn centre “offers welcoming and inclusive spaces that support learning and development for all”.
Loddon Shire last December closed its Wedderburn kindergarten ahead of sessions starting for three and four-year-old children at the new centre that opened for the 2026 school year.
The open day between 10am and 12.30pm is aimed at families and also potential staff.
