MINUTES after thanking an army of more than 150 volunteers for making Saturday’s 137th Boort Show a success, president Madeleine Scott was left stunned and shocked.
The agricultural and pastoral society president was one of three volunteers announced as life members during the official welcome.
Long-time society volunteer and life member Marj Potter presented medallions marking the honour to Madeleine, Kelly Hird and Greg Boyd.
While the trio had been praised for their contributions to the show, all played down the roles they played in putting together Boort’s biggest annual event and the Loddon Shire’s only agricultural show.
Madeleine has been a driving force in the show’s revival, the COVID hiatus strengthening a resolve to celebrate community.
Her theme of acknowledging others continued after the last fireworks had lit up the night sky.
“I would like to thank all the volunteers that make the day happen, we believe there are over 150 of you,” she said.
To the A&P committee you are incredible and I can’t thank you enough for all the work you do throughout the year.”
