The Tigers’ struggles with scoring were highlighted again, with just 29 goals to the Woodies’ 59.
Inglewood goal shooter Aleisha Shay, who was well held in the big loss to Pyramid Hill in round three, was back in great form, with her sure hands and height proving too much for Macorna’s goal keeper Emily Robins.
The Woodies’ mid-court, led by coach Danielle O’Toole, had the Tiger defence under siege all game, with turnovers piling on the pressure.
The win saw Inglewood rise to second on the ladder, narrowly ahead of Marong, and only behind runaway leaders Mitiamo.
It’s almost unthinkable that the team is in that spot, having not won a game for two seasons before a victory in round one against last year’s grand finalists Pyramid Hill.
Goal defence Casey Zass was excellent for the winners, with Macorna switching over goal attack Hannah Dee and goal shooter Jessica Minogue as well as giving bench player Kaitlyn Wishart having a run in both positions in an attempt to blunt Zass’ impact.
Inglewood scored 18-4 goals in the second quarter and 18-8 in the final term to seal the win.
The Woodies big test comes this week, when they face reigning premiers Mitiamo on the Superoos’ home court.
