tHE State Emergency Service dropped the requirement for all volunteers to have had three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Wedderburn SES unit has been operating at reduced capacity after some double-vaxed members refused to have a third dose and were stood done from active duties.

The State Government issued new pandemic orders last week and an SES spokesperson said: “After careful consideration, VICSES will be exercising the exceptional circumstances exemption in the short term, under the new pandemic orders relating to undertaking critical training and emergency response.

“This exemption will allow some members to respond to emergencies or undertake critical training if they have received two doses, but are still to get their third (booster) dose.

“VICSES will continue to support our members in complying with the pandemic orders and provide evidence of three-dose vaccinations, as required by the Department of Health. At VICSES, one of our agreed values is that safety drives our decisions. Accordingly, it’s important that we follow the public health advice to keep our members, and the community, safe.”
