FUNDRAISING for the Loddon’s oldest community celebration has started.
The first raffle tickets for this year’s Rheola Charity Carnival were sold last week by Ron Heenan to customers finishing their shopping at Inglewood IGA.
“I’ve been able to have some good donations of prizes that will be used for two raffles raising funds to make it another ripper Rheola,” said Ron, regarded as a top raffle seller in the district with his support of local organisations.
Ron’s first fundraiser will ensure prizemoney for the Rheola Gift running events.
The carnival raised a record $60,000 for the district at its 150th event last Easter Monday with Inglewood and District Health and Maryborough District Health’s Dunolly campus sharing $40,000.
New carnival committee president Matt Catto said regular meetings to organise the 2024 event had started.
“We’ve started drawing up the rosters for the activities that help us raise funds to support our communities,” he said.
“The more helpers the better ... we’re looking forward to seeing another good mix of veterans and newcomers to the roster. With everyone working together we might even break last year’s records.”
