A KEY community volunteer has been named Pyramid Hill Lions Club Citizen of the Year.
A surprised Robyn Spowart was recognised at the club’s handover dinner for work with local children.
For more than 20 years, Robyn has been a volunteer for the local college’s swimming program.
Supporting Robyn’s nomination, teacher Tania Burke said: “Robyn is our number one parent helper. She tells me she really enjoys it and that must be so because Robyn gets in the water, whether it is hot or cold.
“She always has the kids that don’t want to put their head under water or fear water. Robyn works her magic on them with her kindness, patience and rapport she builds with them.”
Robyn has also assisted with youth groups since moving to Pyramid Hill in 1987, firstly at the Church of Christ and now with Kids Rock that has started at the Uniting Church since the end of COVID lockdowns and restrictions.
