Loddon Shire councillors were told on Tuesday “outstanding issues” finalising a culvert design and completing native vegetation impact assessments were behind the delay in works starting.

“These issues will result in the project not being delivered this financial year,” said assets and infrastructure manager David Southcombe.

“It is proposed to reallocate the funding for this project to extend the current Newbridge Road reconstruction project by an additional 900 metres at the west end of the current project between chainages 5.7km and 6.6km.

“The existing road design of the current Newbridge Road reconstruction can be utilised in the new section.

“The proposed section meets the criteria for reconstruction and can be delivered by the end of the financial year. The design on the Dunolly-Inglewood Road can continue to progress this financial year and the project delivered in 2026-2027.”

Meanwhile, unallocated funds in the parks and gardens will be used to plant trees in Tarnagulla and Bridgewater and landscaping and irrigation maintenance at Boort Memorial Hall.
