River levels are easing along the Loddon River downstream of Laanecoorie Reservoir and may fall below the minor flood level Saturday evening, the Bureau of Meteorology said this morning.

The Bureau said:

River levels remain elevated downstream, and minor flooding is likely along the Loddon River at Appin South from overnight Saturday into Sunday.

In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Saturday, no significant rainfall has been recorded across the Loddon River catchment. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday into Sunday.

Goulburn Murray Water advise that Laanecoorie Reservoir is spilling, but that flows downstream are reducing.

Loddon River Laanecoorie to Loddon Weir:

Minor flooding is occurring along the Loddon River Laanecoorie to Loddon Weir.

The Loddon River at Downstream Laanecoorie is currently at 1.55 metres and falling slowly, with minor flooding. The Loddon River D/S Laanecoorie may fall below the minor flood level (1.50 m) Saturday evening.

Loddon River Loddon Weir to Kerang:

Minor flooding is occurring along the Loddon River at Downstream Loddon Weir and is likely to develop downstream at Appin South.

The Loddon River at Appin South is currently at 2.64 metres and rising, below the minor flood level. The Loddon River at Appin South is likely to exceed the minor flood level (2.80 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible.
