RHIANON Gelsomino is riding high after winning the American Rally Association national championship with Travis Pastrana at the weekend.

“I am still lost for words. This is a dream come true,” said the world-beater from Wedderburn.

Rhianon and Travis claimed the title when they won the two-day Ojibwe Forests Rally in Minnesota.

Pastrana and co-driver Gelsomino had looked like titles favourite ever since a domineering start to the season with three victories in succession. But, according to US reports, in Minnesota at the weekend they drove like true champions with a wise tyre call - running with more cuts on their rubber - to open up a near 40-second lead after just two stages.

For Rhianon, it was the first time she had been part of winning a national title after several close finishes in a stellar career.
