Retiring types keep unbeaten record intact
BOORT Yando’s junior cricketers continued on their merry way with a 99-run win over Wedderburn Band on Saturday.

BOORT Yando’s junior cricketers continued on their merry way with a 99-run win over Wedderburn Band on Saturday.
The Magpies are undefeated since the beginning of last season.
The latest win came on the back of fine batting after Wedderburn won the toss and chose to bowl, as well as a brilliant performance with the ball.
With a string of players retiring not out – Jacob Malone (27 off 38 balls), Cooper Gooding (25 off 29), Jake O’Flaherty (24 off 20) and Luke Boyd (15 off 16) – the first wicket didn’t fall until 129 runs were on the board.
A mini-collapse sparked by Zane Polkinghorne’s bowling saw four wickets tumble for just two runs before Boort Yando finished at 4-134 off 27 overs.
Polkinghorne took all four wickets to fall, taking 4-21 off six overs,
BRIDGEWATER Bulls and Kingower played out a thrilling tie in their junior clash, with Kingower unable to score the winning run in the final four balls of the match.
Batting first, Bridgewater lost wickets regularly, at one stage falling to 7-38 before a late recovery took the score to 72 all out from 27.5 overs.
Angus Ferguson, batting at nine, was best with 12 runs after facing 37 deliveries, and with Harry Kilby (nine off 34 balls), spurred the resurgence.
Xander Wilson took 3-6 for Kingower, Flynn Lonza captured 2-1, and Ryder Smith took 2-6.
An opening stand of 34 between Smith (19 off 33 balls) and Morgan Lonza (13 off 21) set Kingower well on the way to victory, but some tight bowling from the Bulls brought them back into the game.
Wilson could make only one from 19 deliveries, Riley Leach two from 34 balls, and Heath Leach was not out on six.
