LODDON communities gave the Voice referendum a big no yesterday, according to figures released this morning the Australian Electoral Commission.

Voting started after polls closed at 6pm last night on the Federal Government's proposal to change the Constitution with recognition of Aboriginal people.

In the Mallee electorate, that includes local towns, more than 78 per cent voted no.

The highest no vote in the Loddon was 88 per cent at Dingee with Calivil recording 86 per cent.

The highest yes votes were at Tarnagulla and Serpentine each with 28 per cent
