FOR the second year Bridge-water and Boort Yando will battle this weekend in the Upper Loddon Junior Cricket Grand Final after semi-final wins.

Bridgewater won the toss and batted first against Wedderburn. Isaac Holt and Finn Turnbull took early wickets to have Bridgewater struggling at 2-5 but Harry McKinley and Will Stringer set about resurrecting the innings - Stringer scoring 25 retired while McKinley went on to his 50.

Wedderburn openers Holt and Turnbull gave their team a great start with an opening partnership of 48 before Turnbull was out for 13 followed by a dramatic collapse, losing a further four wickets for just three runs. This included the wicket of Holt who top scored with 31. Darcy Wood, McKinley and Daisy Stringer each took two wickets, two runouts didn’t help Wedderburn’s cause.

The other semi played at Boort saw Arnold send the home side into bat. This may have paid dividends if Arnold had held their chances, however, Fraser Holland and Fergus Bear took advantage of their good fortune to register 50s. Alex Cockerell hit three sixes and six boundaries in a quick fire 53, On Sunday, Arnold were looking for a good start but were in trouble from the second over.

The Grand Final will be played this weekend at the Newbridge.
