A BRILLIANT bowling performance has seen Arnold Redbacks give a sobering lesson to reigning premiers Kingower in round three of the Upper Loddon Cricket Association season.
Chasing Arnold’s 7-154, Kingower lost 6-8 after a 24-run opening stand and tumbled to 6-32 in a stunning collapse over eight overs.
The home side further fell to 7-40 before a belated 47-run partnership between William Taylor (35 runs off 61 balls) and Ben Rose, who remained 19 not out.
Kingower’s all out for 99 included paltry returns for some of the team’s best batsmen, with only three players reaching double figures.
Blake Pickles made six, Will Deason two, Lachlan Dejong one and David Rose was caught behind for a 12-ball duck.
Michael Dale took 4-16 from six overs, with three of the maidens, and Henry McCullough claimed 3-19, while Flynn Lock took four catches behind the stumps.
The Redbacks were sent in to bat after Kingower won the toss, and their top order delivered in spades.
Openers Heath Lock (18) and Ryan Metelmann (25) put on 43, and first-drop McCullough belted 43 off 42 balls including seven fours and a six as Arnold reached 3-108 on its way to 7-154 off 35 overs.
