MEETINGS with Loddon community tourism groups will shape a destination management plan for the Bendigo region.
The new blueprint will lock in with local area action plans in Loddon, Mount Alexander and Central Goldfields Shires and City of Greater Bendigo.
“The role of a destination management plan is to unite all tourism stakeholders, including the community, under a collaborative vision for the future of tourism, and to uncover the strategic opportunities that support the attainment of that vision,” said Loddon’s economic development and tourism manager David Stretch.
“In the first stage of the development ... engagement is being undertaken across the region with businesses, community groups and regional stakeholders.
“As part of the process, challenges and opportunities for tourism for the wider Bendigo region will be explored, along with specific ideas and initiatives for each of the local government areas.”
Loddon Shire councillors were briefed on development of the plan this week.
