The Demons, who finished bottom of the ladder in 2025 with only a draw with Maiden Gully to their name, are the last Loddon Valley team to begin preparing for the 2026 season.

Maher said 80-90 per cent of last season’s squad had re-signed, with ruckman/forward Jayden Leach the main departure as he returns to his previous club Inglewood.

Riley Walsh, the club’s best-and-fairest player in 2025 and a member of the league Team of the Year, has returned to the Demons for another season. Outstanding junior Tyler Rasmussen shapes as the key recruit for Calivil, having joined from Mitiamo.

Last season he played 16 games of under 18 footy for the East Loddon Rams, winning the club best-and-fairest and finishing second in the league award.

Rasmussen also played 13 senior games with the Superoos and was named in the best players six times.

Another major signing is Zac Tickell from Bendigo league’s Golden Square, where he mixed senior and reserves football.

He also appeared with the Bendigo Pioneers in 2022.

Former Maiden Gully key position player Ryan Strauch and winger Rhys Beamish, another Pioneers product who has been out of the game for a few seasons, have also joined Calivil as it looks to club the ladder in 2026.
