UNBEATEN Boort Yando has set Wedderburn Band an all-but insurmountable task in the clubs’ two-day junior match.

The Magpies reached 7-225 from 40 overs on the back of three half-centuries from their top-order batters.

All three retired not out – Jake O’Flaherty 52, Cooper Gooding 51 and Brodie McPherson 53.

And all three made their runs at a rapid clip - O’Flaherty faced 55 balls, McPherson 51 and Gooding just 40 deliveries, hitting eight fours and a six.

The middle to late-order batting was a total contrast, with the last six batters totalling six runs between them.

Four players in succession made ducks as Wedderburn’s bowlers did not give up.

Kayla Cramp was outstanding with the ball for the Band, taking 2-7 from three overs amid the carnage, with Zane Polkinghorne going for 69 runs from his eight overs with just one wicket to his name.

The match resumes on Saturday, with Wedderburn facing an almighty task given that it has not reached 100 in an innings this season.

KINGOWER batted steadily through 51 overs to compile 5-111 against Bridgewater Bulls.

Only two batters made double figures, with Ryder Smith (50) and Matilda Rose (21) both retiring not out.

The rest of the side could only manage 12 runs in total, with Tahj Lamprell (5) and Rhiannon Murphy (1) also retiring without being dismissed.

Jed Cossar took an impressive 2-6 from seven overs in a disciplined Bulls attack.

Ned Wickham took 1-11 from eight overs, Angus Ferguson 1-10 from six, and Jenson Birthisel 1-13 from six.

A win for Kingower when the match resumes on Saturday would see it climb to second on the ladder, while a Bulls’ victory would cement them in second spot.
