Newbridge Football Club last night announced Shane Rayment had withdrawn as new senior coach.

"Due to unforeseen family illness, Shane Rayment has had to step down from the senior coaching role. We wish him and his family all the best.

"On the back of this, we are extremely excited to announce Sam Gale as senior coach for 2023. "Sam is a lightning quick midfielder who can push forward and hit the scoreboard."

NEWBRIDGE has looked to Maryborough Castlemaine league clubs as it charts fortunes for the 2023 Loddon Valley football season.

The Maroons, who won just five games this season, have named Newstead coach Shane Rayment as its replacement for Luke Freeman.

Rayment coached the Kangaroos to five wins in the 16-team Maryborough competition. The one-time Collingwood under 19 player is a former Essendon District Football League best and fairest.

Newbridge says: “Shane has already provided so much energy to the 2023 planning and as a result, a number of exciting announcements will be made in the coming hours and days.”

The Maroons have named Nick Gray as coach of their seconds,

A former senior player with the club, Gray has been playing in midfield and forward positions for the seconds and will step into the playing coach role.

Newbridge made the final five this season and lost in a nail biter semi-final against Bridgewater where the lead fluctuated all day.

In a move to bolster the bigman pool at Newbridge, the club says it has signed 193cm key position player Dominic Makur as assistant coach.

He has previously played with Clunes, Avondale Heights and Mallee Eagles.

Returning to Newbridge next season will be Guy Fortuna after a stint with Lindenow in the East Gippsland league that resulted in three senior premierships. Last season, although injury interrupted, was spent with Maryborough Castlemaine league premiers Harcourt.

And also joining from Maryborough Castlemaine will be midfielder Dylan Stevens.

Last season, he won Campbells Creek’s senior best and fairest as well as the being the club’s leading goal kicker.
