WITH flags waving and tantalising sausages sizzling on the barbecue, more than 100 people last Thursday celebrated the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth.
School children joined residents who had been in Boort’s Nolens Park seven decades earlier to celebrate the Queen’s coronation.
Adjacent to a tree planted in 1952, Boort District School Year 6 students Desiree Leerson and Jacob Malone were given the honour of using the silver spade to place a new tree in the ground.
The occasion’s importance was clear for the youngsters.
“It’s a very long time to be Queen,” said Desiree.
