Quartet powers to championship berth
EAST Loddon P-12 College enjoyed outstanding success at the Loddon Mallee Regional School Swimming Championships, held in Swan Hill last week.

Fielding a team of six swimmers - five from the senior school and one junior competitor—the school achieved an exceptional result, collecting 18 individual medals from 19 events.
The team’s success extended beyond individual performances, with four senior swimmers—Angus Addlem, Kyen Maxted, Ruby Cullen and Jack Hocking—combining to win gold in both the 17–20-year-old medley relay and the 17-year-old freestyle relay.
Their achievements were even more impressive considering Ruby, 15, competed against older male swimmers, while Jack, 13, raced up three age groups.
In the medley relay, the team delivered a dominant performance, winning by an impressive 10-second margin.
Angus, from Serpentine, was the standout individual performer, competing in the boys’ 17-year-old division. He claimed five gold medals in the 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 50m butterfly events.
His younger sister Billie also delivered a strong performance, winning two gold medals in the girls’ 11-year-old 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly events.
Jack Hocking, from Dingee, secured gold in the boys’ 14-year-old 50m breaststroke and earned silver in the 50m backstroke. He also claimed second place in both the 12–20-year-old 100m breaststroke and the 12–15-year-old 200m individual medley.
Ruby, from Pompapiel, added to her relay gold medals with two silver medals in the girls’ 16-year-old 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, along with bronze medals in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle
Kyen, from Jarklin, complemented his relay victories with a silver medal in the boys’ 50m backstroke, while Year 7 student Reese Pascoe finished second in the girls’ 12-year-old 50m butterfly.
Angus, Billie and Jack have qualified for the State School Swimming Championships in Melbourne next month where they will compete in individual events. Kyen and Ruby will also attend, joining Angus and Jack to compete in the relay events.
Inglewood Primary School’s Madelyn Lawson secured a state championship spot winning the first in the 50m Breaststroke in the 11 years girl age group.
